So American Idol was pretty good tonight. They all took on the legendary Elton John, and for the most part did pretty well. Scotty McCreery started out the show doing a song that I never heard of called "Country Comfort". He knocked it out of the ball park again, and the judges loved it!! He knows exactly who he is as an artist and I hope he never changes, the world could always use another deep voiced country stud. He has been lucky so far with being able to find a song that suits his sexy deep country twang. Hopefully he continues picking the perfect song for his voice.
Naima Adedapo sang "I'm Still Standing" (which I predicted in an earlier post!). Sadly it was not good, she decided to change it into a reggae song which did not work. She should be worried since 2 people are going to be going home instead of 1. Another contestant who should be worried is Paul McDonald. He sang "Rocket Man" and it was just a weird arrangement. I just cant seem to get used to the weird sound of his voice, it is so unique, maybe too unique for me.
My favorite contestant Lauren Alaina sang "Candle In The Wind", and for me it was the best performance of the night! The judges told her that it was by far her best performance, and I couldn't agree more! I was a little worried at first because this song is so emotional, I remember Elton John singing it at Princess Dianas' funeral, but she did beautifully with it. Stefano Langone sang one of my favorite Elton John songs, "Tiny Dancer". The judges seemed to like it, Jennifer always seems to wet herself after he sings lol. For me, he just tries way to hard, but at least he kept his eyes open this performance, but you could tell it was hard for him!
Thia Megia, the youngest competitior this season did another ballad. I really like her but I can totally understand why the judges keep telling her to to an upbeat song to show off her beautiful tone. She sang "Daniel", in the little video package before the performance she said that when she sang it will be about her older brother. You could definitly tell this song was emotional for her, I didnt think she was going to be able to finish the song without crying, but she did. The judges always say the same thing to her, that it was a safe song choice. Hope, next week she can do some crazy song. Im still saying that it would of been adorable if she sang "Crocodile Rock"!
Okay, now its Casey Abrams turn. Everyone is wondering if the judges made the right move to save him last week (NO). He sang "Your Song". There was no growling in it, which is good for me, but I wasnt blown away by it. The judges seemed to like it, but it was just ok for me. Pia Toscano did, surprise surprise another ballad. She sang "Dont Let The Sun Go Down On Me", and she blew me away yet again. She has such a range that it just blows my mind. She said that it she makes it to next week (which Im sure she will) that she will sing "River Deep, Mountain High", I have only ever heard the Glee version of that song, but either way I am excited to hear her do an upbeat song finally!
James Durbin performance of "Saturday Nights Alright For Fighting" was explosive. He was running around and pianos were on fire, it was crazy. I really wish he sang "The Bitch Is Back", that would of made my night! Jacob Lusk sang "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word", he is another contestant this season that I just cant get into into, the judges love him of course. Last but not least is Haley Reinhart, she saing the classic "Bennie And The Jets", I still say she should of sang "Honky Cat". It surprised me how well she did, and Randy said it was the performance of the night!
Tomorrow is the result show, and with 2 people going home I am sure there will be some shockers. I think the bottom three will be: Naima, Stefano, and Casey or Thia. Im pretty sure that Naima will definitley go home, but for the second one Im not sure. Hopefully it wont be Thia!
