And The Emmy Goes To...Sara Ramirez!!!

Grey's Anatomy was so good tonight. It was one of the saddest episodes, it is right up there with the Hospital shooting and George getting hit by a bus. Finally being able to see the faces of the ones singing the songs was awesome. The soundtrack is so good and I suggest everyone go watch the episode and then buy the soundtrack from iTunes! The best song from the episode for me was, "Chasing Cars", originally done by Snow Patrol. In the episode Sara Ramirez (Callie), Kevin McKidd (Owen), and Chandra Willson (Bailey) sing it when Callie is just getting to the hospital after the horrible car accident. She is thrown through the windshield when she an Arizona rear end a big truck, right after Arizona proposes! That song is so amazing, those 3 sound so good together! I'm not going to do a full recap of the episode, but some stand out parts beside the above 3's voices, are when Callie is singing "The Story" (Brandi Carlile) at the very end. She was singing like her life depended on it was the most beautiful & excruciatingly intense thing I've seen in a long time, Emmy worthy!! Callie eventually wakes up at the end of the episode and says yes to Arizona's marriage proposal. Their baby, is in critical condition, because it had to be delivered at like 23. Okay well I said enough, now everyone has to go watch it for themselves!

American Idol Results

So this recap is a tad late because I had to watch Grey's Anatomy. Well the show started with another epic video like usual. Tonight Fantasia and Jamie Foxx with Will.I.Am are performing. Ryan tells us that instead of a big group performance, the top 11 are split into small performing groups.

The first group to perform is Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery. This makes me incredibly happy! They sing "I Told You So", and get a standing ovation from the judges. Those 2 sound so good together, I could see them having a song on the radio. They are both safe from elimination, yay!!! Next is the uber cheesy ford music video, set to the song "Kryptonite".

Naima Adedapo and Jacob Lusk perform a song called "Solid" which I have never heard of before. They do ok, but don't get a standing ovation from the judges. One of them is in danger of going home, and of course it is Naima. I predicted that last night. My least favorite American Idol winner, Fantasia, performs a song about Collard Greens & Cornbread, it was not good...like usual. She gives the contestants some good advice, telling them to always have good people around you in this crazy music industry.

Thia Megia, Pia Toscano, and Haley Reinhart perform Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream." It was really good, I just wish they gave Thia a solo part instead of Haley. One of them is in the bottom 3, I hoped it was Haley, but it was Thia which I thought might happen last night.

On a previous episode of American Idol, James Durbin said that Casey Abram, Paul McDonald, and Stefano Langone, along with himself formed a band at the mansion. So for their Idol debut the group performed "Band On The Run". It was good, Steven Tyler said jokingly that they could open for Aerosmith. Yeah, I think not lol. One of them is the last contestant in the bottom 3. As I predicted last night I thought it could of been any of them, minus James. In the end, it was Paul. Jamie Foxx and Will.i.Am performed a song from their new movie "Rio" called "Hot Wings". Um, it was pretty colorful lol.

I was really hoping and praying that Thia would be the one saved, but I knew in the back of mind that that wouldn't happen. In the end, Paul was safe and Thia and Naima were sent packing. At least they will be on the tour over the summer. I'm really hoping a guy is sent home next week, like I said in an earlier post I'm sick of guys winning!!

This & That

So yesterday i was talking about Bridget Sloan going to Florida. Today USA Gymnastics is saying that she will defer until after the 2012 Olympics. I thinks this is awesome that she is giving the Olympics another shot. Not sure if she will make it because there is a lot of juniors coming up that could outscore her any day. So we will see I suppose.

In other new, I am so freakin' excited for Grey's Anatomy tonight! It is the long awaited Musical episode. iTunes released a soundtrack from this episode, so of course I had to get it! All the songs from the soundtrack, have been played in previous episodes of Grey's. It was surprisingly good, who knew that the cast could sing that good, I know I didn't. I did a little research and it turns out that Sara Ramirez, who plays Callie, actually won a Tony Award for her role in Spamalot. She actually sings very well, along with Kevin McKidd who plays Owen. This is going to be such an intense episode, I cant wait!!

Here is the Track List for the Soundtrack:
  1. Chasing Cars
  2. Breathe (2AM)
  3. How We Operate
  4. Wait
  5. Runnin' On Sunshine
  6. Universe & U
  7. Grace
  8. How To Save A Life
  9. The Story
Dial Idol is saying that there is a good chance that Stefano Langone and Paul McDonald could be going home tonight on American Idol. Dial Idol is a website that measure the busy frequency when calling to vote for you favorite contestant.

Idol Recap

So American Idol was pretty good tonight. They all took on the legendary Elton John, and for the most part did pretty well. Scotty McCreery started out the show doing a song that I never heard of called "Country Comfort". He knocked it out of the ball park again, and the judges loved it!! He knows exactly who he is as an artist and I hope he never changes, the world could always use another deep voiced country stud. He has been lucky so far with being able to find a song that suits his sexy deep country twang. Hopefully he continues picking the perfect song for his voice.

Naima Adedapo sang "I'm Still Standing" (which I predicted in an earlier post!). Sadly it was not good, she decided to change it into a reggae song which did not work. She should be worried since 2 people are going to be going home instead of 1. Another contestant who should be worried is Paul McDonald. He sang "Rocket Man" and it was just a weird arrangement. I just cant seem to get used to the weird sound of his voice, it is so unique, maybe too unique for me.

My favorite contestant Lauren Alaina sang "Candle In The Wind", and for me it was the best performance of the night! The judges told her that it was by far her best performance, and I couldn't agree more! I was a little worried at first because this song is so emotional, I remember Elton John singing it at Princess Dianas' funeral, but she did beautifully with it. Stefano Langone sang one of my favorite Elton John songs, "Tiny Dancer". The judges seemed to like it, Jennifer always seems to wet herself after he sings lol. For me, he just tries way to hard, but at least he kept his eyes open this performance, but you could tell it was hard for him!

Thia Megia, the youngest competitior this season did another ballad. I really like her but I can totally understand why the judges keep telling her to to an upbeat song to show off her beautiful tone. She sang "Daniel", in the little video package before the performance she said that when she sang it will be about her older brother. You could definitly tell this song was emotional for her, I didnt think she was going to be able to finish the song without crying, but she did. The judges always say the same thing to her, that it was a safe song choice. Hope, next week she can do some crazy song. Im still saying that it would of been adorable if she sang "Crocodile Rock"!

Okay, now its Casey Abrams turn. Everyone is wondering if the judges made the right move to save him last week (NO). He sang "Your Song". There was no growling in it, which is good for me, but I wasnt blown away by it. The judges seemed to like it, but it was just ok for me. Pia Toscano did, surprise surprise another ballad. She sang "Dont Let The Sun Go Down On Me", and she blew me away yet again. She has such a range that it just blows my mind. She said that it she makes it to next week (which Im sure she will) that she will sing "River Deep, Mountain High", I have only ever heard the Glee version of that song, but either way I am excited to hear her do an upbeat song finally!

James Durbin performance of "Saturday Nights Alright For Fighting" was explosive. He was running around and pianos were on fire, it was crazy. I really wish he sang "The Bitch Is Back", that would of made my night! Jacob Lusk sang "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word", he is another contestant this season that I just cant get into into, the judges love him of course. Last but not least is Haley Reinhart, she saing the classic "Bennie And The Jets", I still say she should of sang "Honky Cat". It surprised me how well she did, and Randy said it was the performance of the night!

Tomorrow is the result show, and with 2 people going home I am sure there will be some shockers. I think the bottom three will be: Naima, Stefano, and Casey or Thia. Im pretty sure that Naima will definitley go home, but for the second one Im not sure. Hopefully it wont be Thia!

College Gymnastics News!

OK so my twitter is all a buzz. Apparently 2009 World All Around Champion, and 2008 Olympic Silver Team Medalist Bridget Sloan will be competing for Florida. I hope this is true, I think this school will be a good fit for her. I am so in love with the Gators this year, and I think that the NCAA Championship is theirs to lose. Although they lost the SECs to Alabama and to Arkansas earlier in the season, I still think they have the best shot at winning if all their athletes are healthy.

I am also hearing that 2008 Olympic Alternate Ivana Hong will be competing for Stanford. Does this mean that both of these athletes are done with elite gymnastics and wont be trying for the 2012 London Olympics? I guess we will have to wait and find out. If any one can verify this, that would be awesome!

UPDATE: According to USA Gymnastics, Bridget Sloan has verbally commited to Florida. Still no word about Ivana Hong.

Idol Thoughts

I almost forgot that today is Wednesday! And that means only one thing! American Idol is on!!!! This has been my favorite show for the longest time, the only season I sadly didn't watch was the first season. This season is pretty good so far, i definitely have some favorites. I really love Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery! I would love to see a girl win it or Scotty. I am so sick of the same type of guy winning season after season, CRYSTAL SHOULD OF WON LAST SEASON!!! Its so obnoxious that since Jordin Sparks won, it has been the same type of guy singer who won. I blame all the teeny boppers who only vote because the singer is cute, people need to vote on talent not looks! Luckily this season there is a lot of female singers that I really like, such as Lauren, Thia, and Pia.
Turns out that it is Elton John week, which makes me very happy. I don't remember if Idol ever did an Elton John week before, correct me if I am wrong. I'm really hoping my faves do good since 2 contestants are going home this week. I personally hope that it is 2 guys, like Casey and Stafano. I don't think the judges should have saved Casey last week, I mean if I want to hear growling every week I would watch a rabid dog or something. Ok rant over, so I think every week I will make my predictions on song choice or what not.

  • Lauren Alaina: She should do a ballad like Someone Saved My Life Tonight, or any ballad to show of her amazing pipes!
  • Scotty McCreery: Hmm he is one of my faves but I fave no idea, maybe Tiny Dancer.
  • Thia Megia: She may do Can You Feel The Love Tonight, but she really should do an upbeat song like Crocodile Rock, how cute would that be lol
  • Casey Abrams: I could see him growl his way through Benny & The Jets.
  • Pia Toscano: No ballads this week! Maybe Your Song or Healing Hands? I don't really know.
  • James Durbin: I'm thinking maybe The Bitch Is Back, He could own this song
  • Naima Adedapo: My guess would be I'm Still Standing
  • Jacob Lusk: No idea, maybe another Lion King song like Circle of Life
  • Haley Reinhart: I would love for her to sing Honky Cat!
  • Stefano Langone: He will probably try and belt out The One, or Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me
  • Paul McDonald: Goodbye Yellowbrick road would be a good choice
I would love to hear your predictions! I hope I get a few right but who knows. They will probably do Don't Go Breaking My Heart for the group performance. I will probably do a recap after the show. Until then my friends.

No More Karate Kicking My Sister

So this is how my ankle looks now, well it's a little bit cleaner now. Don't mind the leg hair, bare in mind that I had a cast on for more than a month! Anyways, I am so happy to finally have the cast off, now I just cant wait to start my physical therapy in a few weeks, then to be able to walk! My doctor said that I can try and loosen up my ankle before my PT starts, so i have beentrying to do ankle circles and a few other things, but it is still pretty stiff. The hardest part for me is moving my foot up and down. Well I assume PT will help with that, Im just anxious to get on with my life. If anyone read my first post, you would now that I had to have surgery on the 25th of January to repair some cartilage with 3 screws! It's kinda a funny story how I messed up my ankle in the first place. So it was like over a year ago and the day after Christmas I believe. My older sister was in the kitchen, so me being the annoying younger sister decides to run in after her and karate kick her in the ass. Well it backfired Big Time! I had my new pajama pants on that I got the day before, so when I went to kick I slipped, my foot totally slid right out from under mealmost took my sister out as well! When I fell I felt a lot of pulling and heard some popping. The first thing I said was OMG I think I broke my ankle, and my dad was just like, get up lol. I was limping for awhile, but it finally got a little bit better so I never really went to the doctors. Eventually my ankle would start to pop and give out on me on a daily basis, it was so painful that I had to go to the doctors like almost a year after i fell. Thats when I got the news that i actually fucked up my ankle and needed surgery. Oh well, at least it is over now, and I suppose I will be setting off metal detectors with all the screws in my body now! If anyone out there had a similar injury and willing to give me some hints on loosening up my ankle it would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome!

Well since this is my first post I will just let you know a little about myself. My name is Megan and I am 21 years old from Massachusetts. I have a few passions in my life, Gymnastics, Country Music, Baking, The Olympic Games, and my Shih Tzu. So I decided to start my own blog so I can talk about all of my favorite things in one place. Also I had surgery to repair some cartilage in my left ankle, so I have alot of time on my hands for a few months. I am not a professional writer, so please excuse my horrible grammar and spelling. I attended Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI for Baking Pastry Arts. I love to bake but I hated it there! Besides the people which I loved, it was the worse few years of my life. So now I am in debt up to my arm pits and no job because of my ankle. The only things that make me happy right now are like I said above, Gymnastics and Country Music. Since my surgery I spend my days on youtube watching gymnastics montages and old routines from some of my favorite gymnasts. Well I suppose I will hobble my way into the kitchen to get something to eat. I'm thinking my next post will be about some of my favorite gymnastics montages. Have a good day!
