Idol Predictions: Top 8 - Songs From Movies

This week the Top 8 will perform songs from movies, and apparently on the result show Kelly Clarkson and Rihanna will perform. Nigel tweeted that Will.i.am helped the contestants chooe their songs. After the shocking elimination of Pia last week, I think all the contestants will be giving it their all since it doesn't matter if you are a front runner or not, you could go home! Here is my predictions for this week, which I will probably be wrong since the list that they choose from will probably be very long.

Paul McDonald: He better be in the bottom 3 this week, he doesn't deserve to be here any more! He will probably do a song like "Footloose" and act like a maniac and ruin the perfectly good song. He may also do "Mrs. Robinson" from "The Graduate", I could hear him singing either of those songs, but he may slow it down this week and do a song such as "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" by Bryan Adams. But I hope he doesn't do that song!!

Lauren Alaina: She has been my fave since the beginning, but she really needs to have her "moment" this week, because i would really hate to see her go home! I would love to see her sing “I Will Always Love You” from “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” not “The Bodyguard.” She could really do any Dolly Parton song, even "9 to 5" or "Here You Come Again". She may surprise us a do a song like "What A Feeling" from "Flash Dance". There is so many possible song choices that I could hear her sing this week! She could also sing "Angel" from "City of Angels;" "How Do I Live" from "Con Air". She may do a more modern song like Miley Cyrus' "When I Look At You" from "The Last Song" or Faith Hills' "There You'll Be" from Pearl Harbor.

Stefano Langone: I hate him, I honestly do. He doesn't deserve to be here either. On that note, he will try and pull off another ballad like "Purple Rain"; "Stand By Me",  "Kiss From A Rose". I don't want him to sing any more, I may just mute the tv when he is on...He may also ruin "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman".

Haley Reinhart: She has been getting better every week. I am anxious to see what song she chooses this week. I think she would do really good on "Son Of A Preacher Man" or "At Last" from Etta James. Or even a song like "Take My Breath Away" from "Top Gun". Whatever song she chooses, Im sure it will be good!

Scotty McCreery: Im a big fan of his but I have no idea what he could sing. He may do another Elvis song like "Jail House Rock" but I dont think he would do back to back Elvis songs. Maybe he will do a song from the movie  "Urban Cowboy" like "Lookin' For Love" or "Devil Went Down to Georgia". How cool would that be?

Casey Abrams: Apparently he tweeted about doing something jazzy this week, maybe he will do "Summer Wind" from the movie "For Love Of The Game", or even jazz up a song like "Iris" or "Im Alright" from "Caddyshack". I dont care what he does really, I dont like him either lol.

James Durbin: I dont think he would do a slow song 2 weeks in a row. I would really like to hear him sing "Old Time Rock & Roll" from Risky Business, "Live And Let Die" from James Bond, or "Bohemian Rhapsody". Im sure he will put on quite a show!

Jacob Lusk: He can go home as well, I just cant stand the way he sings! He can go back to church!! I wouldnt be surprised if he sanf "Over The Rainbow" from The Wizard Of Oz or "Ease On Down The Road" from The Wiz. He is uber cheesy so he could pull that off.

Music Challenge Day 08

Day 08 of the music challenge is a song that you know all the words to. I chose "I Believe" by Nikki Yanofsky, it was aired during the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. The song is so amazing, I cant help but know all the words to it. I love inspirational Olympic music like this!

Music Challenge Day 07

So Day 07 of the Music Challenge is A Song That Reminds You Of A Certain Event. The song I chose was "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts, it was my high school graduation song. Whenever I hear it, it brings me right back to 2007, back when me and my friends were still super close, back when I was still happy and not really worried about money or anything. I miss the good ol' days!

European Championships- Women All Around Finals

The All Around Finals are about to get started in Berlin, Germany. The title is clearly Mustafina's to lose, for all the quick hits here is the link, Blythe over at GymExaminer is doing an amazing job!

UPDATE: Apparently Aliya Mustafina landed lock legged on her vault, and was injured! She was wheeled of the arena ina wheel chair. I hope she is alright, this is such a surprise. The competition will be very good now!

New Update: Mustafina tore her meniscus according to several reports. Kkay now IG is reporting that she tore her ACL and will miss the 2011 Worlds.

WTF America!!! Really!?!?!?

So I am sure everyone knows by now about American Idol...The amazing Pia Toscano went home! Jacob Lusk and Stefano Langone was also in the bottom 3. I was shocked! Ryan started the show saying that it was going to be another shocking elimination but I was really hoping it was a Jacob going home shock not a freakin' Pia going home shock!!! Seriously if I was Stefano, Paul, Jacob, or Casey I would of gladly given up my spot for Pia! Speaking of Casey, I bet the judges are kicking themselves in the ass for saving him a few weeks back. I wouldn't be surprised if Jennifer doesn't even come back to Idol next week. The judges were so pissed!! Next week if another girl goes home, especially Lauren. I will not watch it for the rest of the season! America is so dumb, what is stopping you from voting now that we can online?!?!?! I couldn't really say anything last season because I couldn't vote, but I make sure I use all 50 of my votes each week for my favorites!! Including Pia!!! This is the biggest upset in American Idol history, even bigger than Chris Daughtry going home, or Jennifer Hudson, or Tamyra Gray!! I don't think any of those contestants could actually win the title, but Pia could!! She was flawless every single week!!! If another friggin guy wins American Idol, I am so done with this show!!! I wonder what Simon Cowell thinks?? I don't think he would of saved Casey, he was smart and would have known that it was WAY to early to use the save! The saddest part of last nights episode was when Ryan made her sing, and she sang "I'll Stand By You" by The Pretenders, kinda ironic since her supposed fans didn't really stand by her...I'm so sorry Pia, you will have a very successful career I just know it!! Some idol contestants that don't win do better than the winner, I mean you are probably more famous than Taylor Hicks is right now. Don't worry sweetheart, you will be just fine!!! Feel free to send her some words of wisdom to her Twitter account @PToscanoAI10. Some celebrities are already sending out they're support:

Alyssa Milano
@ Keep your head up, beauty girl. You're an awesome talent.

dax shepard
@ @ I'm going to do something drastic. This has put me in an unstable mood.
»
dax shepard
This is more egregious than that no-hitter that was ruined by that ump.
»
dax shepard
This did not just happen!!! How??? I'm going to do something radical. I love you Pia!

Minka Kelly
Will someone please explain to me HOW in the WORLD @ (Pia) has been voted off American Idol?! !!

Dear Pia I love you, don't let this little speed bump get in the way of your awesomeness, don't be discouraged because it does show that you have a lot of support!

If the last 2 girls get sent home before a guy Im done, I am not going to watch a sausage fest again. Stupid teenage girls need to STOP voting for cute guys who CAN'T sing!!!! As much as I love Scotty, Im probably going to stop voting for him, all my votes are going to Lauren Alaina, she is the only hope for the girls this season!!! I like Haley, but I just don't see her winning the title!! Okay now my rant is officially over!

30 Days of Music Challenge

So i forgot about the 30 Day Music Challenge yesterday, so I will have 2 posts today!

Day 05- A Song That Reminds You Of Someone: "I Believe In A Thing Called Love" by The Darkness. It reminds of my best friend Mandy, we used to drive around senior year of high school just blasting this song!

Day 06- A Song That Reminds You Of Somewhere: "Epic" by Faith No More. It reminds me of college when I used to play rock band with my room mate Shannon!

American Idol - Top 9 Results

The Top 9 American Idol contestants performed songs from Inductees of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last night. All an all it was a good night. Everyone did a good job according to the judges, there were still a few that I didnt like, but thats usual! Gwen Stefani dressed the contestants, and Will.i.am help mentor them.

Jacob Lusk: "Man In The Mirror" by Michael Jackson
He was originally going to sing "Lets Get It On" by Al Green, but changed his mind because he didn't want to sing a song about having sex. Yet, ironically he was pelvic thrusting like no one's business through out the entire performance. He is not one of my favorites, he does the same type of song week after week. He did however get to sing with the original writer of "Man In The Mirror", which must of been so cool! I predict that he may be in the bottom 3 this week.

Haley Reinhart: "Piece Of My Heart" by Janis Joplin
I have been uber impressed with her lately, she was never one of my favorites, but last night she killed it!!! It was soooo good, she was definitely in her element. She picked the perfect song for her voice, everyone pretty much predicted that she would/ should sing that song. I think she will definitely make it through to next week, and if she doesn't, there is something wrong with the world!

Casey Abrams: "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Casey, like Jacob also changed his song choice. He was originally going to sing a Sting song, thank goodness he didn't, CCR is so much better!! I'm not a big fan of his, but he sang a CCR song and he brought out the upright bass, which is pretty cool. I just don't like his awkward growling or the faces he makes when singing. He is just creepy. The judges loved it of course, he will most likely be safe.

Lauren Alaina: "Natural Woman" by Aretha Franklin
My fave contestant did a good job with what the judges said was the hardest song of the night. I was kinda surprised she picked this song, but I thought she did pretty good, she hit some killer notes in that song! She could of performed a little bit more with that song, but other than that, I think and HOPE she makes it to next week. I don't think a girl deserves to go home today!

James Durbin: "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" by George Harrison
James took a risk doing a ballad tonight, but it paid off for him. He is good, but he is not my cup of tea. He reminds me to much of Adam Lambert, and I hated him! Everyone was surprised that he did a ballad on Rock night, but I predicted that he was probably going to change it up a bit. The song was clearly very emotional for him, he will definitely be safe.

Scotty McCreery: "That's Alright Mama" by Elvis
My man Scotty did an Elvis song. Surprise surprise! I thought he would of done a ballad, but he did a very upbeat song. He has gotten so comfortable on that stage and it shows more every week. For being so young, it is crazy how he works the audience and the camera, he is a pro! He also got attacked by girls from the audience who ran up at the end to hug him. I thought it was staged, but I guess it wasn't! I don't think he minded at all!! He will be safe, I predict he will be in the top 2!

Pia Toscano: "River Deep, Mountain High" by Tina Turner
Finally we get to see the rock side of Pia. She stepped away from her ballads and broke out an amazing, upbeat performance. We have been waiting since last week to hear her sing this song, and she didn't disappoint!! The only thing she needs to work on is the performance. The song is so upbeat and she just kinda walked around the stage slowly, other than that the vocal was amazing! She shouldn't worry about going home tonight.

Stefano Langone: "When A Man Loves A Woman"
Dear Stefano, please go home this week. I am so sick of him singing this kind of song, that I could puke. He was very off key, I don't know why the judges like him. He SHOULD be in the bottom 3 this week.

Paul McDonald: "Fulsome Prison Blues" by Johnny Cash
Paul is a maniac. He ruined a perfectly good Johnny Cash song. I couldn't even understand what he was saying. YET! The judges loved it. EWW. He better be in the bottom 3 this week, I am so done with him ruining songs!
Prediction: Bottom 3 will be Jacob, Paul, & Stefano. With either Paul or Stefano going home. This better be right because if Lauren goes home, i am done with Idol!

Aliya Mustafina of Russia is in the lead after qualifications in the All- Around, she swept the floor with the other competitors, she has a comfortable 3 point lead to team mate Dementyeva. Romanian Diana Chelaru round out the top 3. Its really nice to see gymnasts from countries not that dominate lately like, Seitz from Germany, Croket from Belgium, and some Swiss gymnasts, Kaslin and Steingruber to round out the top 10.

USOC Athletes Of The Month Poll And Other News

USOC has posted the link for the March polls. I have already voted. I guess this time only 10% of the votes count for the overall vote.

Cast your vote now for March USOC Female Athlete of the Month. I voted for Jordyn Wieber, because she just beat the current World Champion, fuck yeah!! Here is the link: http://twtpoll.com/gy8yri Please vote for Jordyn, she totally deserves it after all the injuries she has had!

Cast your vote now for March USOC Male Athlete of the Month. I voted for Jonathan Horton, he recently won the American Cup for the third time, and he was just recovering from a thumb injury which is pretty hard in gymnastics! Here is the link: http://twtpoll.com/92zp0n

Cast your vote now for March USOC Team of the Month. The most obvious choice for me is the U.S. Women's Gymnastics National Team. They are just full of awesomeness, and totally deserve this title. They are currently in the lead, but the poll has only been up for 2 hours. The polls close in like 2 days. Here is the link: http://twtpoll.com/imemdq

In other news, I'm not as familiar with Men's Gymnastics, but the podium training for the Men at Europeans was today and if you want the link, Blythe from GymExaminer did another amazing job! Podium Training- Day 2

Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Week Predictions

The Top 9 on American Idol will have the daunting task of picking a song from Inductees of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Good luck with that!! On the other hand, American Idol probably only has the rights to 20 songs lol. I decided to give my predictions of some songs that the contestants could possibly do. I think that this week should be very exciting with all of the possible choices! Jeff Beck will be performing with all the contestants which will be freakin' awesome! Constantine Maroulis is set to perform on the result show...yuck.

  • Pia Toscano- She already said last week that she will sing "River Deep, Mountain High" by Tina & Ike Turner. I think this is an excellent choice as long as she does the Tina version not the Celine Dion version!
  • Scotty McCreery- He said that Elvis is a huge inspiration to him so I think he may slow it down and do a ballad. Either "Love Me Tender" or Cant Help Falling In Love." If he doesnt do Elvis I think he will stick with his country roots and do "I Walk the Line" by Johnny Cash., or "Im So Lonesome I Could Cry" by Hank Williams Sr. Another choice could be "Unchained Melody" by The Righteous Brothers. I think he will have another stellar week!
  • Lauren Alaina- I think my fave contestant will possibly sing "Son Of A Preacher Man" by Dusty Springfield, or maybe a Bonnie Raitt song like "Lets Give Them Something To Talk About". She could also do an amazing job on "When Will I Be Loved" from Linda Ronstadt, "Crying" by Roy Orbison, or "Landslide" from Fleetwood Mac but do the Dixie Chick version. I hope she has a good week and sticks around till the end!
  • Jacob Lusk- I would be extremly surprised if he doesnt perform one of these songs, since he is very predictable. My song choices for him are "The Winner Takes It All" by ABBA, Ray Charles' "Unchain My Heart" or "What A Wonderful World". Or possibly "Stand By Me" or "A Change Is Gonna Come". He needs to step it up if he doesnt want to be int he bottom 3 because I think his time is coming to go bye bye.
  • Haley Reinhart- She has surprised me, I though she would of gonhome by now. She will probably break out a Janis Joplin song like "Piece Of My Heart", or possibly a Fleetwood Mac song. Her rasp in her voice may also do good in Jefferson Airplanes "Somebody To Love or The Pretenders "Brass In Pocket". Actually I think she would do very well on The Pretenders, I really want to hear her sing that song now!!
  • Paul McDonald- Hopefully he goes ome this week, I just cant stand him. He will probably "TRY" and sing a song like "Free Fallin" by Tom Petty, or maybe ruin a Beatles song like "Hey Jude" Some other song choices, while they are good songs, he will likely make me hate them if he performs them are, "Along The Watchtower" by Bob Dylan of any James Taylor song. He needs to go away.
  • James Durbin- I think this will be another great week for him. He has so many excellent rock songs to pick from, well depending on thr rightds that Idol has. I think he will surprise us by doing a ballad, like possibly "Behind Blue Eyes" by The Who. I would love to see him sing an Aerosmith song, but not sure if he has the balls to do it in front of Steven Tyler!
  • Casey Abrams- He is another one who can go away this week. I really wish the judges didnt save him. I think he will probably sing a Van Morrison song, or maye break out his Bass and perform "Moon Dance. He could maybe do well on "HonkyTonk Woman" by The Rolling Stones or "Whipping Post" by The Allman Brothers. Either way, I guarantee I wont like it.
  • Stefano Langone- Along with Casey, and Paul, I think Stefano can go home. A guy definitly needs to go home this week, none of the remainng girls derserve too yet! He would probably try try and sing a Prince song, or possibly Chuck Berrys' "Johnny B. Good", or Billy Joels' "River of Dreams" on the piano.
So Im predicting and hoping that the bottom 3 will be Stefano, Casey, and Paul. I dont care who goes home as long as its one of them!

ACM Awards

The Academy of Country Music Awards aired on CBS last night. All in all the show was one of the best in past years for me. All of the performances were amazing, minus a few (Toby Keith & Eric Church). I cant decide what performance was the best, either Ronnie Dunns' or Taylor Swifts, although Sugarlands Jennifer Nettles performing with Rihanna was pretty freakin' awesome!! OO I almost forgot Carrie Underwoods performance! She came out and sang 'Undo It', then the always fantastic Steven Tyler joined her, then they sand 'Walk This Way'! The were so awesome together!

Miranda Lambert won almost everything she was nomitated for!!! I have been a huge fan of hers since she appeared on Nashville Star, and it is so good to see her be earned for her freaking awesomeness!! The one award she lost was for Entertainer of the Year, which Taylor Swift won. I am happy Taylor won, she puts on one heck of a show and she deserved it, so screw all the haters!!!! Her song 'Mean' which she performed earlier in the show says it all! I am also very happy for The Band Perry winning Top New Artist over Eric Church. They are definitley one of my new favorite bands, their self-titled album is amazing!!

Okay a quick recap of award winners:
  • Entertainer of the Year – Taylor Swift
  • Top Male Vocalist of the Year – Brad Paisley
  • Top Female Vocalist of the Year – Miranda Lambert
  • Album of the Year – Lady Antebellum “Need You Now’
  • Single Record of the Year – Miranda Lambert “The House That Built Me”
  • New Artist of the Year – The Band Perry
  • Top Vocal Group of the Year – Lady Antebellum
  • Top Vocal Duo of the Year – Sugarland
  • Song Of The Year – Miranda Lambert “The House That Built Me”
  • Video of the Year – Miranda Lambert “The House That Built Me”
  • Vocal Event of the Year – Zac Brown Band ft. Alan Jackson “As She’s Walking Away”

European Championships- Podium Training- Day 1

Since I don't have the luxury of being able to go to Berlin, Germany and give my own live updates, or have a half way decent computer to watch live feeds or videos, here is an excellent link! Blythe over at GymExaminer is in Berlin to live blog from podium training, here is the link: Podium Training- Day 1. She is amazing with all of her live blogging, one of the best in the business!! According to Blythe, everyone is definitely getting the kinks out before the big competition. As much as I love the Russians, I am rooting for the Romanians or anybody else to win! I love a good under dog story

Day - 03

So Day 3 of the 30 day music challenge, is a song that makes me happy. This was a tough one because there is so many, but I decided on "Grace Kelly" by Mika. Mika makes me happy in genral lol!

What A Weekend!

So this weekend has been full of NCAA Gymnastics, with Regionals happening all over the country. Every year there is always an upset, and this year was no different!! There were 6 Regionals happening all over the country, and the top 2 teams at each location will qualify to the Championships in Cleavland. Also, the top 2 All Arounders from a non-qualifying team will advance to Nationals, and the event winners at each regional will advance to Nationals, if they are not part of a qualifying team or an all around qualifier.

The Athens Regional, which hosted UCLA (#6); Georgia (#8); LSU (#18);North Carolina State (#26); Maryland (#28); & West Virginia (#29). I wasn't expecting any upsets here, but what did surprise me was UCLA's final score!! A whopping 197.425! That was the highest team score in the nation, for regionals!!! If they perform like this again at the NCAA Championships, they could win again! The full results are as follows:
UCLA 197.425 - qualified
Georgia 196.750
- qualified
LSU 195.350
North Carolina State 194.750
University of Maryland 193.200
West Virginia 192.500
Individual QualifiersKaleigh Diskson, LSU 39.075 & Stephanie Ouellette, NC State 38.95

The Norman Regional hosted gymnastic teams from Oklahoma (#5); Utah (#7); Washington (#17); New Hampshire (#32); Missouri (#33); & .North Carolina (#35). There wasn't any shockers in the meet, Oklahoma and Utah easily qualified. Oklahoma had a huge score of 197.350, almost a full point higher than second placed Utah. Congrats to Morgan Evans (UNC) on winning the all around and qualifying to nationals!

New Hampshire 194.500
Missouri 194.175

The most exciting Regional of the weekend would have to be Ann Arbor, which hosted Stanford (#4); Michigan (#9); Ohio State (#16); Iowa State (#21); Minnesota (#23); & Kent State (#24). To the surprise of the gymnastics community, Kent State came out of nowhere and qualified behind Michigan to go to Cleavland. I expected the 2 teams to qualify to be Stanford and Michigan. However, Stanford absolutely fell apart and came in third place (tied with Minnesota), no individual even qualified to Nationals. Congrats to Kent State for qualifying for the first time to Nationals! I love a good Under Dog story, Good Luck at the NCAA's!!

Michigan 197.075 - qualified
Kent State 195.450 - qualified
Ohio State 195.350
Minnesota 195.225

The Corvallis Regional hosted teams from Oregon State (#3); Nebraska (#10); Iowa (#15); Southern Utah (#31); San Jose State (#34); & Michigan State (#36). Oregon State easily won the competition with Nebraska coming in second. I am so impressed with Oregon State this year, they are definitely in the running for the title this year!

Another exciting Regional was Denver. The teams competing there were Florida (#1); Arkansas (#12); Boise State (#13); Denver (#19); Arizona (#20); & Brigham Young (#27). The shocker here was that #12 ranked Arkansas beat the #1 Florida for the second time this season. Florida almost didn't make it to the finals. Boise State was only .025 of a point behind! That would of been a huge upset!!

Final Results:
Arkansas 196.550 - qualified
Florida 196.425 - qualified
Boise State University 196.400
Denver 195.625
University of Arizona 195.400
Brigham Young University 194.650
Individual Qualifiers: Beam: Bekah Gher, Boise State University & Jorie Hall, Denver AAAmy Glass, Boise State & Brianna Springer, Denver

The NCAA's should be very exciting in Cleavland! As much as I want either Florida or UCLA to win the title, how awesome would it be to see Oregon State or Kent State win? And I want to thank Gymnastike for their excellent coverage of the meets this weekend!

Ok the song that I hate the most is "Baby" by Justin Bieber. I hate everything by Justin Bieber, his songs get stuck in my head and they are so obnoxious!

30 Days of Music Challenge- Day 1

Ok so I decided that  I will do the 30 Day Music Challenge.
Day 1- Favorite Song: I couldn't decide on my all time fave song, but right now I am in love with "Sixty Years On" by Brandi Carlile. I love absolutely everything by her. Her voice is so unique, its a breathe of fresh air when listening to her.

This is a live performance from London, but it is still amazing!
